I Suck...

My apologies once again blog world, I'm really dropping the ball lately.
In my defence I have been really busy, but I should have found the time for at least a few posts in the last couple weeks.

I've started painting again and it's something that I can really only do when Sammy's asleep, And it just so happens that my normal blogging time is around nine at night when he's asleep... you see the dilemma...
So my little blog has taken the back seat while I get some work ready for an upcoming show this weekend. After this weekend hopefully all will go back to normal. I hope...

Until then I'll leave you with a shot of one of my finished paintings for the show.

high five!!

Sorry Sorry Sorry...

Hello blog world!
Sorry about the lack of posts last week, I've been super busy with some paintings for a show this Thursday as well as rearranging the house. I promise I'll be back later this week with some posts as well as some pictures!

High fives!

Just a quick post tonight. I finished the Nicey Jane quilt for my mom for mothers day and wanted to share some shots.
I'm pretty happy with the outcome, despite all the troubles I had with it. Once again I just stitched in the ditch and only horizontally. I had intended on doing horizontal and vertical but after three failed attempts going vertical I decided that just going horizontally is way more awesome and vertical is overrated. And as much as I like the front, I'm in love with the back...

It looks a little wonky in the photo but it's actually quite straight. And now that it's finished I'm glad the vertical stitching didn't work. I'm not sure I would have liked it as much. I used Picnic Bouquet in Gold with a stripe of Kona in Sage and a smaller stripe of Welcome Road in Sky, which was also used for the binding.

I machine stitched the binding on the front then hand stitched it on the back. Bindings are becoming my favourite part of the whole quilt making process. The hand stitching is quite relaxing.
I finished the quilt off with a monogram, that unfortunately isn't some of my finer work, must get better at satin stitching.

Three finished quilts under my belt now and three more tops waiting to be sandwiched and quilted! Two of which are in the process of getting some hand embroidery work done, more on that another day. And I still need to start the Victoria and Albert Collection quilt for my big sis for her bday.

As well as attempting an Amy Butler purse for my little sis and finishing off some paintings for a show next Thursday.

Plus I'm about to begin rearranging the house. My studio is being moved upstairs, our bedroom's being moved into Sam's room, Sam is being moved into Mr. Snips studio, and Mr. Snips is being moved into the basement, sorry honey!

I'll try and remember to take progress shots to post, but don't expect anything to soon.

gotta run, bed time.
super quiet high fives!

Happy Mothers Day

With my second mothers day here, it has me reflecting on how much Sam has changed since the first.
Sam was only three months old for my first mothers day, so at fifteen months now, the changes are astronomical. He's growing so fast. He's so smart and I marvel at what he knows and understands.  Even if he doesn't have a lot to say.

I love watching him stop whatever he's doing to dance when a good commercial comes on.

And how he plays in the curtains with Seven.

I love it when he runs full tilt at me then jumps into my arms for a hug.

I love our bedtime routine that involves a kiss for dad then one for me and another for dad, then one for me from dad, then sometimes one more for me and maybe another for dad...
He's very generous with the kisses so I'm taking all I can get now.
Then finally Sam turning the light off and shutting the door himself.

I love putting him to bed everynight and I'm going to miss it so much when I start my new job.

I love how excited he gets when he sees a really big truck... he's so cute.

Or when we're on the bus and he needs to wave at everyone as they get off.

I especially love all his different laughs, he has so many.

I could keep going and make the worlds longest list if I were to continue with everything I love about him, but instead I'll just say that I love everything he does, everything he is and everything his going to become...

...even when it involves barf down my top :)

So Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's out there, especially mine!
And Happy Mothers Day to me, the worlds luckiest Mom!

Snapshot Sunday

So Miss Marvelous has chosen reflective as this weeks word, I had a few photos lined up that I was deciding on but ended up not needing them. We popped into the Ford dealership this morning so Mr. Snips could take a look at the new Focus and I managed to snap a picture that I think works beautifully for reflective.
So here`s my snap for Sunday...

A nice little family portrait. You`d almost think that the whole car had been chromed it`s so reflective!  And also notice that Sam has grown a second head... hmmm two Sam`s constantly asking, dat? dat? dat?

Now, The Smashing Miss Marvelous has not yet sent me her photo...
I`ve set this to publish automatically as it`s midnight here and I need to get to bed, so I`ll update when she sends me her photo.

later taters!

WIP Wednesday

So I have a confession...
I'm addicted to scrapbooking paper.
I don't actually "scrapbook" but I buy the paper like it's going out of style.

Another confession, I started this post about an hour and fifteen minutes ago while watching Chocolat and this is as far as I've got.
Damn you Johnny Depp! (shaking fist).

Anyhoo, back to the WIP.
A couple years back Mr. Snips and I flew to NYC for a weekend to be at the opening of my very first gallery show. We took a ridiculous amount of photos and I've been wanting to make a book of some of our favourites for quite a while. So... perfect time to use some of my paper. There's still some photos I need to add and I might do a bit of journaling but this is what I have, (warning, extremely photo heavy... I still don't know how to put in a jump break).

So that's one of the projects I have on the go right now... I do have some paintings on the go but I've yet to take any pictures of them, and I still need to finish up the quilt I have on the go for my mom, having issues with this one. Might be a post about that another day. Until then...

...later taters!

Snapshot Sunday

So it would seem that there's some confusion going on between me and the lovely Miss Marvelous. I'm waiting to hear back from her but I'm quite positive she didn't fill me in on last weeks word.

So I'm flying solo today and I've chosen "play" as my word. And seeing as it's my blog and I can do as I please I'm posting a series of photos instead of just one.

I shot about 200 photos yesterday at the park with my Mom and Sam. These were some of my faves.

Sam had a blast and refused to leave, we had to drag him away from the slides!

Well enjoy the rest of your weekend, we're off to the season opening of the Aberfoyle Antique Market!

later taters!!
